" Where are you going?"

Aislin was standing at his open door.

" ... My mother wants me to come home for a few days," Henry said.

" But, Ornstein..."

" My mother is sick too," Henry said stiffly. " And I haven't seen her all winter. I'll only be gone for four or five days."

Aislin was quiet for a moment.

He stayed by the doorframe.

" You promise you'll be back then, in four or five days?" he asked.

It felt odd.

" Of course," Henry said.

He didn't know why Aislin was acting like that. Some part of it was understandable because of Ornstein's illness, but... he could almost be mistaken for acting clingy.
